Kid & Teen Yoga
Yoga can be a great way to maintain flexibility and agility as a young human develops into a pre-teen and enters early adulthood. Its techniques also improve attention and emotional regulation that can last a lifetime.
There are increasing demands for schools and communities to address technological and media influences on our kids that may be contributing to self-harm, anxiety, depression, and unhealthy boundaries.
With yoga, we are fostering habits of quiet and balance; a balance between movement and stillness, looking outwards and going within. The aims are for more calm, flow, and peace as well as discernment: independent thinking and feeling and the ability to cultivate healthy relationships and connections.

I've taught yoga and mindfulness to kids and teens, with programs taught after-school and as part of a school's curriculum. I've developed courses for middle school kids, primarily girls, and for upper school kids, including athletes of both sexes. My teaching schedule includes regular stints teaching at Rutgers Preparatory School - New Jersey's oldest private school (est. 1766) and part of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). It's been an honor and privilege to help work on developing a mindfulness program for their kids from ages 4-18.
* Ages 4-7, 30-minute sessions involving play, story-telling, role-playing, music and "belly buddies"
* Ages 8-12, 30-minute sessions involving play, vocalization and partner poses as well as art and nature explorations
* Ages 12-15, 45-minute sessions, increasing emphasis on poses, partner poses and nature walks
* Ages 15-18, sessions can last as long as two hours as we explore intermediate and advanced poses
