Free-Breath Exercise 1, Move Within Yoga video #25

5/29/2020

This is our first video about free-breath, a breathing exercise that transforms your being into a state of calmness.

No mantras and no "positive thinking" are required.

Just bring your powers of observation, find a place to sit, and be open to turning nervousness, frantic behavior or fright into calmness.

At a time when mental health is an issue for so many, I am hoping that this may help even a few people manage their emotions and energies during this period of dislocation and transition.

Thank you for being here. You are essential! Please subscribe, like, and share for more breathing exercise and at-home movement instruction in the art of yoga. For live Zoom classes, please contact me at movewithinyoga@gmail for more details. Thank you again! Stephanie xo

Attentiveness in Cobra, Move Within Video 23

5/18/2020

When we bring attentiveness into cobra we notice a transition from limitation to openness.

It's a sign of the times: with most of the world's population still in lock-down of some form or another, most of us are feeling restraint or constriction. It's unavoidable.

But even in this atmosphere there is room to open, room to increase our perspective and room to receive - it just might not come in ways we expect and might require now more attentiveness and awareness from us. We're not on autopilot anymore!

In this video, we prep the upper chest, forearms and elbows for cobra in a gentle series of repetitions. We start lifting up with baby cobra and then gradually increase our lift to upward dog. Don't strain the shoulders "trying" to get higher. The spine is ultimately doing the heavy lifting.

For live instruction, I'm holding group Zoom classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and private classes on Mondays and Fridays. For more information, email me at movewithinyoga@gmail.com.

Balancing Acts, The Crow - Move Within Yoga Video #22

5/15/2020

I know times are hard and stressful, but all the more reason for just a tiny silver of fun. We need to find the fun whenever it turns up, no matter how trivial.

This pose is fun and isn't as hard as it looks. Crow is more a balancing act than anything with the heart center extending out to balance out the tush behind. Your internal eye or inner vision needs to be switched on to gauge the position and balance of your different body parts.

We warm up with a few balancing poses like tree and tippy-toe position to prepare. I'm holding live Zoom yoga classes so if you're interested drop me an email for details at movewithinyoga@gmail.com. Producer shout-outs for anyone who spreads the love, supports, gives WOM or financial support in the form of a karmic exchange.
